Sunny Fall Day!

Today is a beautiful fall day and I’m enjoying it!

Not Planned but it was there!

The Main Thing

The main thing here is just making sure that this thing continues to work. WordPress is supposed to connect to my blog automatically through IFTTT. How it does that is a mystery to me but all of the blog posts that you see here were done that way.

Gold Finch

I was just visited by one of God’s most beautiful creatures. I was having breakfast on my BackPorch and appreciating the quiet and beautiful simplicity of a misty Saturday morning.

At the back of our yard I noticed a small bird in motion that had just left one of the branches of the fully bloomed-out Crepe Myrtle tree. The tiny bird swooped low, close to the ground to gain speed and then turned straight-up and landed perfectly on the shepherd’s hook that supports our hummingbird feeder. There it sat, straight in front of me, only about eight feet away, a brilliant golden yellow gold finch. Bright yellow breast, fully yellow-saturated back divided by a black stripe of wings.

A truly stunning moment to gaze upon a living thing of beauty for me to enjoy. A messenger to assure me that the world is a great place of creation that we should cherish and care for.

Beautiful Morning!

It was a beautiful this morning; foggy but beautiful. Beautiful not because of thee weather, it was foggy, Beautiful not because of the flowers;  it’s too early for most of them to be blooming. Beautiful because of the sound. The beautiful sound of the birds singing.

We humans seem to try to assign some human value to the sound or singing of the birds in the morning. It is a lovely and relaxing sound. I really love to sit on my back porch in the early mornings, drink coffee and listen to the birds. I wonder what they are saying. Are they commenting on the latest political news of the day? Are they telling their neighbors about the newest restaurant in town or that new thriller movie they saw last night.

I doubt they are talking of any of these topics but they have to be communicating something other than just making noise. Whatever their reasons, whatever they are “saying.” I always enjoy the early morning with the birds.

Writing using iA Writer is such a new experience for me

Writing using iA Writer is such a new experience for me. It is just pure writing on a distraction free, blank screen. No formatting to fuss with, only the words, the beautiful words and they flow out of your brain through your fingers and onto the keyboard and then zipping electronically from the keyboard, to the computer and onto the screen. In my case the words do not stop there. They go onto the cloud where they will be indexed to always be accessible from any device at any time from anywhere!s

Now we will try this out to see how the finished product comes across when it is published in my WordPress blog.

All Out of Pagers

Do we ever forget how dependent we are on electonics today? This morning I’ve found that we must be dependent on elewcronic pagers in the outpatient surgery pavillion. The very nice receptionist at the welcom desk told me they were out of pagers today. There could be some more items that they could be out of… like scalpels, pain medication or band aids, but now they are out of that lifeline to our Doctor and the hnicians careing for our loved ones. Actually I like no pagers. This means that the receptionist will walk out and find me and tell me face to face about the progress of the surgery on Ruby. A much nicer and much more personal approach.IMG_0049

Ominous Waiting

Today is an ominous day. A day of waiting for the hurricane to come ashore and tear its twirling terror away from it’s source of strength, the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The storm now is packing winds of 145mph as it is attacking the Ft. Walton Beach area of Florida. Even at several hundred miles away we are experiencing the far reaching tentacles of the most dangerous part of the storm. The hazard is not the powerful winds nor the destructive storm surge of water topping beach sand dunes, it’s the heavy rains that we fear here in western North Carolina.

The rains bring flooding not just to the low lying tidal areas near the coasts of our states but with all the hills and mountains in the west a quick shower of rain in a flat area can turn into a raging torrent of water sweeping people, trees, cars and houses on its way to the the bottom of the hill, drowning all in the abyss of destruction.

The rain here is picking up now. No longer gentle, I’m wondering what may be in store for us today.

Sunrise – Sunset

The most beautiful, dramatic and hopeful parts of the day.

Yes that’s not today’s sunrise and the sunset has not yet taken place for this location in the Eastern Time Zone. This is a picture I made of a sunset a few months ago.

Sunsets and sunrises are the most hopeful times of the day. Whether it’s a sunrise or a sunset, I am reminded that He put it all in motion to paint a beautiful picture on the most beautiful and limitless canvas each day — actually two times each day.

Sunrises are of course a welcome to a new day, another chance, a fresh break in your routine and a change, maybe even a radical one from all those mistakes and misbehaviors in your past and the rumination of them that pollute your mind.

This morning I was thrilled with the brilliant orange ball floating just above the horizon sending us unlimited energy and warmth. An abundance that sustains us and allows enjoy this wonderful world.

I’m very thankful for all that I have.

After the Storm?

Is it really after the storm? The wind is still blowing. More than rustling the leaves and bending the branches of all the trees within sight.

Ever notice how few birds fly in the windy rain?

The crickets are still the noisiest animals around this morning but then it’s not really light this morning as the cloud cover is so dense.

We have power at our house this morning. There are nearly a million customers in NC without power.

The rain that’s coming down is thick and dense. We need more words to describe rain and the ways in which it falls.

Wow! The wind just picked up with a big set of gusts bring some of the tiny droplets to my face, arms, neck, and legs even in my exposed back porch refuge. Is it really after the storm? The wind is still blowing. More than rustling the leaves and bending the branches of all the trees within sight.

Listening to the news of the storm on the radio, actually streaming through my iPhone as I also use it as a typewriter to write this post.
