Warm Hearted Rocks

One of the nicest new traditions that has just started in our community is leaving painted rocks in random locations for others to find. The rocks are always colorful and creatively painted usually with an encouraging message.

When I picked up this beautiful gift it was warm to my touch and it’s beauty and the thought that someone was painting these rocks and leaving them for someone like me to find warmed my heart.

Leyla McCalla

  • If you ever have a chance to hear her GO! She is of Haitian descent but was born in New York. Now living in New Orleans she is a former member of the Carolina Chocolate Drops. She has two side instrumentalists/vocalists that perform with her. The music is an intensely tantalizing mixture of Creole blues/jazz/folk. Instrumentation includes Cello, Viola, Banjo, and Guitar. It all works especially with the emotionally evocative chords of the Viola and the tight vocal harmonies.

Old Age – Strange Habits

IMG_0093.JPG

Old Age and retirement brings about strange habits and strange ways. Breakfast Cereal for lunch may just be one of those. But you say, this cereal is so delicious! Some of the ingredients featured on the front of the box are:
– Naturally Sweetened Fiber Twigs
– Soy Protein Grahams
– honey Puff Cereal

Combine this with Craisins and it’s a wonderful lunch.

The Mountain Dew in the background is for Ruby.

Early Riser

2014-07-21 08.04.12This morning i got up at 6:40. This was entirely too late. I told my wife that from now on, I’m getting up at the same time every morning. Yes, in my old age I must be getting set in my ways and getting very cranky about some things.

I remember one time 40 something years ago when I was in the Air Force commenting that I would be glad when i got out of the Air Force to that I wouldn’t have to get up at 5:30 in the morning. Now my preferred time is 5:25. Why 5:25AM? That gives me just a little bit of a wakeup before I start listening to the news on a local NPR radio station. I feel like I’ve gotten a head start on the world if I’m up at 5:25 and it just helps me be more positive if I can approach the new day in an unhurried and relaxed way without a rush just to get where I need to be.

Efficiency

Isn’t that we are always striving to achieve in business?

Did someone miss an efficiency opportunity here? Why not eliminate all that writing, printing, folding, collating, stapling, trimming, cutting, etc. and just transfer this paper directly from the truck on the right to the truck on the left?

Love – The most important thing

…the love of God gives us moments of grace that shine a little light into the darkness. Like a loving parent, God cares for us unfailingly throughout our lives. “If we love one another,” says John, “God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” (1 John 4:7-12) Copied from The Upper Room, July 25, 2013.
